From the Hjermstads

Dear Church Family,

In Ephesians 1:16, the apostle Paul writes to the church in Ephesus, “I do not cease to give thanks for you.” Paul explained that he was so thankful for them because he had heard of their faith in Christ and their love for one another.

Over the last few months, my mind and heart keep coming back to how thankful I am for our church family. Yes, I praise God for the faith you have in Christ. I’m also thankful that you love one another. But specifically, I’ve been so thankful for how you have loved me so well. I know that I’ve publicly thanked you a few times, but I can relate to Paul’s sentiment of not wanting to stop giving thanks! And so please permit me to do so once more.
It is a very unique thing for a congregation to watch their pastor date, go through a time of engagement, and get married. It’s especially unique for that to happen during a pandemic. You humbled me (and Brittany) with how graciously you handled it and how intentional you have been to encourage us.

You prayed for us far more often than we know or deserve, and God has answered them! Thank you for that.

You have embraced Brittany and welcomed her into our congregation. That means so much to us!

You generously hosted a shower for Brittany and congratulated us in many different ways. Thank you!

You patiently walked with us through a challenging decision to limit our wedding attendance, and you’ve been so gracious with me and my time as I adjust to a new chapter in life, while being short-staffed at the same time. You have loved us with the love of Christ, and we are so grateful.

I’m learning that when you’re a newlywed, the future is filled with hope. When I think about the future of St. Paul’s, I also have great hope. I’m excited to see how the Lord leads Brittany and I as we begin this new chapter of life, and I’m excited to see how God continues to lead our congregation. More than anything though, no matter what the future may bring, we have a hope that anchors our soul. It’s the hope of Christ. For that, I am most thankful.

Love in Christ,
Pastor Micah and Brittany
